90 Day Challenge

Aloha! It's been almost a whole year since I wrote the contents of my first post (I only just published it today) Since then I've moved to Hawaii, got a terrific job, and I've been teaching dance to children while still nuturing my career as a gogo/fire dancer. When I first got to the islands I was still practicing the strict workout and clean eating regiment I'd begun living at home. Shockingly, life has gotten a hold of me and I have become rather lax. I've been working out at most about 2 days a week and while I've been eating relatively healthy, I've also gotten in the habit of having ice cream every night with my boyfriend and I always feel either unsatisfied and hungry or stuffed to the rim. Accompanied with that, I've felt lazy, sluggish and unmotivated. Sleeping 10 hours a day and not having any real intention through-out the day wasn't working for me. To top it off, I've been looking at getting a Fitness Instructor Certification and frankly, I haven't felt that fit lately. Thankfully there's been a change of events. After an arbitrary desire to wake up early, do some yoga and have a smoothie on Wednesday (May 29th) I found my old self again! The energy I had that day was what I'd been missing these past few months! That's whats motivated me to do a 90 fitness Challenge :) My plan is to work out 5 days a week (2 days rest) maintain clean eating (smoothies, high protein low fat meals, fruit and veggie snacks through out the day, etc.) and reduce my body fat%. I currently weigh 139 pounds with an estimated 24% body fat percentage. I'd ideally like to have a body fat percentage of around 20%. Hopefully this blog will keep me on point. I will also use it to share my progress and information I learn from my fitness instructor studies, online and at the studio. Day 90 will be a few days before my birthday and I see it a fitting time to celebrate my achievements.
"The only journey is the journey within". What a fitting quote to my very first blog. My name is Journey and I'm on a path of personal growth and self discovery. Like many other 20-somethings, I've ventured out of my teen years and have been plopped into my twenties unsure of who I am or what I want to accomplish in life. I've graduated from college in December and moved back home just as the media have predicted I would. These 5 months haven't been completely wasted though, I've managed to accomplish several goals that I'm quite proud of. I've lost 21 pounds through healthy eating and working out (much thanks to the ever re-stoking of my parent's fridge as well as the running machine conveniently located but a few rooms away from my bedroom.) Another big accomplishment, the one I am most proud of, is fulfilling my dream of becoming a professional go-go dancer, which I will go in far more detail about later, as there is a sweet little inspirational story that goes along with that and I feel a quick recap won't do it justice quite yet.
